Donations – it’s that time of year

We can use your donations to help fund our scholarship programs and to defer some of our operating expenses including tax preparation services, web site hosting, fund management expenses, and travel support for ship ceremonies.

Qualified Charitable Donation (QCD): If you are subject to Required Minimum Distributions (RMD) from your IRA, 401(k), or 403(b), your plan custodian (e.g., Fidelity, Merrill Lynch) can make a direct distribution to qualified charities. A QCD may reduce your taxable income while supporting the Society of Sponsors.

For the past year we have been updating our website to streamline the look and feel, add new features for the public and members. New updates include:

Members Area:

We have implemented a members and auxiliary members only area with resources only accessible by our members. This includes:

·       Calendar of events

·       Member Announcements

·       Searchable members contact list with email

·       Member resources to help members prepare for ship ceremonies & key events

·       Soon online donation and payment portal

Public Site Updates:

The site look and feel has been significantly updated to make it more appealing. New features include:

·       Updated ship ceremony post search,

·       Public member/ship search list

·       Updated philanthropy page highlighting scholarships

·       5013c Compliance requirements providing links to SoS IRS Form 990’s
